The U.S. National Team has numerous alumni that have met with success at every level of football. Samaje Perine, who recently announced his intention to enter the NFL Draft, just passed Billy Sims as the All-Time leading rusher for the Sooners during Oklahoma’s Sugar Bowl victory. Stephon Tuitt and Ty Montgomery are currently with their respective NFL teams preparing to compete this coming Wild Card Weekend.
Success seems to follow National Team alumni.
Two more names are inching closer to etching their names in the pantheon of successful alumni. MaxPreps recently released its 2016 All-AmericanTeam and the squad has two players that will wear the red, white and blue for the U.S. U-19 National Team.
D’Andre Swift was a first team selection at running back. He led St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia), the No. 12 team in the nation, to a perfect 14-0 record and its third state championship in four seasons. He has announced his commitment to play next season at Georgia.
Fellow first team selection Chase Young, anchored the defense for DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) high school this season. The team posted a perfect 12-0 record and captured its fourth straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) title. The third-ranked defensive end in the nation will suit up for Ohio State next season.
Both players will suit up once more for U.S. Under-19 head coach Kenny Sanchez, who captured MaxPreps National Coach of the Year honors.
The U-19 National Team will compete for the inaugural North American Championship on January 28 in Orlando.
